Day at the Park

We took some time recently to upgrade to Windows Vista, and as usual it takes some time to get everything back up and running.  I like Vista, but I *can* tell it slowed down our computer.  I see more ram and a faster processor in our future…  Oh joy.

All 3 of us were sick last week.  No fun.  First Jeff and I got the bug, then Isaac came down with it yesterday.  He tolerated it surprisingly well, Better than we did, in fact.  We thought Isaac was doing really well and but he got sick again last night in the middle of the night.  Poor baby.

Here are more pictures!  Isaac had so much fun at the park on New Year’s Day!

Isaac enjoyed the jungle gym.

He wasn’t so sure about the dirt on his hands.

Feeding the ducks… and Isaac.  He thought the bread was for him.

Feeding the ducks with Grandma.

Isaac wanted to get as close to the water as possible.  Eww, gross.

This was a cute motorcycle toy he was riding.  He wasn’t too sure about it, but liked to see the other kids playing on it.

Diaper change time after a day of play.

What a cute face!  I am often telling Jeff that we really should take pictures of us with Isaac and not just take pictures of Isaac.  His response was, “See, you’re in that picture!”  Nice, hon.

Winter Frost and Scary Movies

It has been so cold here lately.  We have been waking up to ice for the last several mornings now.  I am afraid my newly landscaped backyard is going to need a major overhaul with new flowers in the spring.  I was already planning to start fresh out in our front planter so that’s not the end of the world, but I am really hoping my impatiens, jasmine, and hydrangea survive.   Oh well, not much I can do at this point.

On a different note…  Isaac doesn’t like all the Baby Einstein DVD’s.  He likes most of them, but he is afraid of the Baby Mozart, Music Festival.  The images can be scary and they it isn’t as cohesive as some of the other Baby Einstein DVD’s.  We decided to try this DVD out on him again and see if maybe he has grown into it.  We may have made a big mistake in showing it to him tonight before bedtime.  He has been stirring downstairs in his crib– at what age do kids have nightmares?  Poor baby.

McDonald’s kid

My parents were watching Isaac while I was at work yesterday and they took him to McDonald’s for lunch. He had a hamburger and a yogurt parfait. My parents were saying “hamburger” and Isaac repeated, “hamburger.” He said it several more times in the afternoon and once for me later last night. He does a pretty good job of it, too. You can tell that is exactly what he is saying. He is so smart.I found more Christmas pictures on our camera today. How odd that they didn’t come through with the others. Have I mentioned yet that I don’t like our new camera?

Here’s some more from Christmas.

I found some other good pictures on our camera from New Year’s Day at the park that I’ll have to post later! I knew there were more pictures on there!

“More”

Children can learn sign language at a very early age.  We have a signing DVD that has taught Isaac a few signs- eat, more, milk, water, cup, plus a few others.  The only sign he really gets is “more.”  When he woke up yesterday morning, he signed “more” and I knew that we usually associate “more” with food.  So I asked him if he wanted to eat (signed “eat”) and he signed back “eat.”  It was a funny moment as we realized that communicating through sign language can be very beneficial in eliminating a lot of frustration.  The hardest part about signing is remembering to do it often, and remembering the signs.

This is a picture from Christmas Eve, and yes, Isaac is picking his nose.  We don’t have the “nice” picture yet without his finger up his nose.  We will work on that. ;)

Kara and Isaac

This is Isaac and his (second) cousin, Kylie.  They were eating crackers in Isaac’s new chair.  Two peas in a pod.
