Cutie Pie

Since I haven’t posted in a while, I thought I’d get these cute picts of Isaac up.  He is getting so big.  At his doctor’s appointment last week, he weighed 22 lbs!  The doctor said he is still light for his age, but average height.  He has been a bit under the weather lately, which may be related to more teething.  He woke up twice last night, which is unusual.

Isaac has been “reading” just about anything he can get his hands on lately.  He loves reading little pamphlets especially the ones out of his DVD cases, but others also.  My mom said he was reaching for a pamphlet near the front of a cash register at Home Depot the other day that was a credit card application.  She let him have it and he “read” that one also.

He fell asleep reading… just like Daddy.

Challenges

Today was a challenging day at work.  I worked with an assistant whom I don’t normally work with.  She was in training and this is her last week with us.  Nearly every turn presented new opportunities of teachable moments.  I found myself tired at the end of the day and mentally exhausted.  Infection control issues, documentation, communication, expectations.  I wonder if I am being too demanding, having expectations too high, or wanting everyone to think like I do.  I am glad that we are all different and function to work as a team.  Not everyone can be a hand or a foot.  I need the help of our team to function as a complete unit and it works when we do our job for the better of the team.

Easter Chickies

Okay, so Nana and Papa got Isaac 4 chicks for Easter this year!  2 Rhode Island Reds and 2 Cochinas, if anyone wants to know.  He is having a blast with these “chickies” he calls them.  He doesn’t like to hold them and when he does, it can be scary.  He picked up one of the chickies and threw it on Saturday- yikes.  Poor chickie.  Jeff and I both grew up having chickens.  We had them as pets and Jeff had them for dinner.  I think it will be fun for Isaac to have these chickens to experience while growing up.  I always liked
collecting their eggs and caring for them.

We dyed Easter Eggs on Saturday and decided it would be better to make a big mess of this at Nana and Papa’s house.

Then on Easter, we had the egg hunt.  We “hid” them for Isaac on Nana and Papa’s patio.  Isaac liked finding them, and knew that he was doing a good job of that.  The only problem was that he thought they were balls and started throwing them on the ground, hard.  We managed to save 3 of the 12 eggs that we dyed.

And finally, what is Easter without a little Cool Whip and strawberries?

All cleaned up and still playing in the candy eggs.

Isaac’s Nose

Monday, Isaac and I were in Target and had headed towards the checkout counter with our purchases. If you have ever been to our local Target store, you would notice that many of the employees have *many* body piercings. Isaac was in his stroller and was turning around in his seat to smile at the cashier and then at me. He was pinching his nose and smiling at me then back at her.  I was cracking up! He had noticed she had her nose pierced and was commenting to me about it. He wanted to be sure I saw it, but probably wanted to ask me what it was. He plays with my earrings, so who knows what he was thinking. Funny kid.
